Here's a glimpse at something very few Oak Parkers have seen. Every five years or so, the Public Works Department drains our 5 million gallon underground water reservoir for regular maintenance and inspection. This year we had the opportunity to descend into the dim depths of the vast, 90-year-old reservoir and take some photos.

This thing is HUGE! When in use, the water level is just below the ceiling. It's the largest of four reservoirs that receive clean drinking water from Lake Michigan (via the city of Chicago) to deliver to Oak Park households.
